Hello, I am Alex(andre) "pocky" Balmes, and I build pragmatic, production-grade software.
I am a massive fan of software architecture (DDD, Hexagonal, Clean Architecture) but I have absolutely no problem leveraging RAD when it makes business sense. Long-time PHP developer deeply rooted in the Symfony and Sylius ecosystems, I also spend a significant amount of my time building low-level, vendor-agnostic infrastructure for the AI era.
You can read my rants on my blog or find me hanging out on Bluesky.
Tired of fragile AI demos, "no-code magic" myths, and constant engineering AI fatigue, I founded AWF β a compiled, high-performance, and strictly deterministic infrastructure ecosystem built to run AI agents in real production environments.
Here are the main repositories I actively maintain:
awf-cli (Go) β The core orchestrator. Driven by YAML state machines with unified token tracking, conditional loops, and canonical transcripts.
zpm (Zig + Prolog) β A high-performance Model Context Protocol (MCP) server embedding the Trealla Prolog engine to give LLMs deterministic logical reasoning and eliminate hallucinations.
ztick (Zig) β A push-driven, time-based job scheduler. Think cron in reverse: your apps push events over TCP/TLS exactly when they need them, eliminating polling and architectural drift.
Tower (Rust) β An experimental, high-performance Virtual File System (VFS) indexing engine driven by AI via the MCP protocol.
All AWF ecosystem components are proudly open-sourced under the EUPL-1.2 copyleft license.
I am the founder of akawaka: elite web development focusing on high-end PHP, Symfony, Sylius, and JS/TS stacks, operating under the vanoix umbrella.
Bonus: All commercial engineering clients receive a free commercial license for the AWF ecosystem, bypassing any copyleft obligations.
Contribute! π₯ AWF is gaining tracking, and the codebase spans across Go, Zig, Rust, and Prolog. If you want to jump into the systems engineering trenches or add features, open an issue or submit a PR. Please ping me hard if I'm slow to review β running multiple companies keeps my schedule tight!
Sponsor the project: Support my open-source work directly via GitHub Sponsors.
Hire us: Bring the akawaka crew onto your next mission-critical PHP, TypeScript, or AI infrastructure project. As Tina Turner famously said, we are simply the best. π
DEAL WITH IT. π
