Technology is valuable only when it improves people's lives.
I'm an Italian Technical Project Manager and software engineer based in Pisa, Tuscany.
I started programming in the early 1990s, driven by the same curiosity that inspired many developers of my generation. What began as a passion quickly became my profession, and for more than twenty-five years I've been working on the digital transformation of the Italian Public Administration.
My career started in software companies developing solutions for municipalities and public organizations. Later I joined the Tuscany Regional Government, where I have worked on digital identity, security infrastructures, interoperability, and large-scale digital services.
During my career I have contributed to:
- Digital transformation initiatives for the Italian Public Administration.
- Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) infrastructures.
- Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) projects.
- The adoption and rollout of SPID, the Italian Digital Identity System, including participating in the first successful authentication to a public service on 15 March 2016.
- National and interregional technical working groups focused on interoperability and digital innovation.
I strongly believe that technology is not an end in itself. Its real value lies in making people's lives simpler and public services more accessible, reliable and efficient.
In recent years my work has expanded toward:
- Drone photogrammetry
- Geospatial data and 3D mapping
- Open-source GIS technologies
- Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models
- Local AI inference with Ollama and open models
- Technical documentation and knowledge management
- Cloud-native architectures and automation
I enjoy building practical tools that combine AI, geospatial technologies, and open-source software to solve real-world problems.
I publish (few) tools, documentation and experiments on GitHub. Most of my recent projects focus on:
- Public Administration digital innovation
- Developer utilities and automation scripts
- WebODM and photogrammetry workflows
- GIS automation
- AI-assisted documentation
- Public Administration digital innovation
- Developer utilities and automation scripts
I believe that sharing knowledge is one of the best ways to improve software and help communities grow.
When I'm away from the keyboard, you'll probably find me:
- Sailing or racing in the Tuscan Archipelago
- Swimming
- Flying drones and exploring new photogrammetry techniques
- Enjoying Tuscany and all the world
