Gifted Chat went 14 months without a release. 150,000 people a month kept installing it anyway. I shipped the next one. Then 25 more.

Same story elsewhere. The old react-native-background-downloader gets 200 downloads a week.
Mine gets 22,000.
Every React Native release can break native code. Someone ports it before your build fails. Same for Reanimated, Gesture Handler, Expo SDK, iOS background limits, Android foreground services, Gradle, AGP, Kotlin. Plus your bug, on a device I don't own, from a stack trace.
None of it ships anything for me. All of it keeps your app building on Monday.
Sponsors get faster issue turnaround, same-week support for new RN and Expo releases, and real docs instead of a stale README. Companies also get logo placement, prioritized PR review and a heads-up before breaking changes land.
Current goal: 10 sponsors = one guaranteed maintenance day every month.
$5 to say thanks Β· $100 for logo placement and prioritized triage Β· $500 for a response-time promise
Everything stays MIT / Apache 2.0 and free, forever.
Sponsoring isn't a license fee, it's what keeps the next release coming.
