Building a complete IP camera solution based on the Novatek NT98530 SoC, developing a new RTSP and ONVIF server stack running on the Novatek SDK, integrated with the Novatek codec pipeline, and writing associated device drivers & bootloaders. YOLOv8 object detection running on the SoC's built-in CNN accelerator.
A Yocto Linux touchscreen device based on iMX6 using the LVGL graphics library, and associated kernel device drivers and other operating system elements.
A complete IoT stack incorporating IoT device firmware, a distributed/replicated cloud backend, and React Native mobile apps. Custom IoT fleet management system and analytics/dashboards for business data and IoT fleet data.
Developed several camera products from scratch using various video SoCs (TI DM368, HiSilicon, iCatch). Complete software stack: bootloaders, Linux and RTOS, device drivers, sensor setup, and FFmpeg-based recording. Battery-powered solutions achieving one-second boot-to-recording times. Also developed desktop applications for analysing biologging sensor data, GPS post-processing software, and 3D OpenGL visualisation tools. Emmy Award recipient for developing the animal-borne cameras used on the BBC Blue Planet 2 series.
Multiple projects using gstreamer, ffmpeg and custom stacks, including feeding local IP camera streams to Android & iOS Mobile apps, and cloud storage (including Kinesis Video Streams).
