My name is Kellen Murphy. I serve as the Identity Architect on the Identity Services Architecture & Engineering team at the University of Virginia.
My work sits at the intersection of technical architecture and the broader standards and governance questions that define how identity functions across higher education. I spend my time designing systems that are secure, scalable, and interoperable, while staying deeply engaged with the federated identity community, including UVA's participation in the InCommon Federation and the Trusted Access Platform.
I've always found that the hardest problems in IAM aren't purely technical. They're the ones where policy, institutional context, and protocol design have to meet in the middle.
