The main focus here is keeping pace with upstream updates.
In an effort to make it simpler for us to bump Go versions though, I'm moving to
.tool-versionsand updating our GitHub actions to make use of that. Looks like we're able to get rid of our custom Go setup script in the process, so that should be nice.There's still a bit of lingering necessary complexity when building wheels for release, because we need Go inside manylinux containers for cibuildwheel. But we can still try to make that pull from
.tool-versions. Confirmed that the release workflow can build artifacts with these changes in this run.
