Based on the conclusions from the meeting we had. We should either close this issue because it links to the old issue #253, or mark it as a draft and update the reference to the new issue #260, or simply create a new PR that isn't tainted by old logic.

Based on Kelda's comment, we can schedule a meeting to discuss the design of the new endpoint.
