This guide assumes you use Windows 10 or later. KRead runs on most modern Windows PCs without extra software.

Find the latest release, usually at the top of the page. It shows a version number like
v1.0or higher. -
Look for a Windows executable file. It ends with
.exe. For example:

Click this file name to start downloading.
Make sure you remember the folder where you saved the file.
KRead typically comes as a standalone program, or with a simple installer.

.exefile, you may be able to run it directly. - Double-click the
.exefile to open KRead. - If Windows shows a security warning, choose "Run anyway" or similar.

- When done, launch KRead from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
- Open KRead.

- You can add URLs to book websites or files you own.
- Imported sources let you explore more books in the app.
- Add books to your shelf to keep track of current reads.
- Use categories or tags to organize.
- Remove books you finished or no longer want.
- Use the search bar to find books by title or author.
- Explore categories to find new reads.
- Select a book to open it.
- Use arrow keys or swipe to move between chapters.
- Adjust font size or background color to suit your comfort.
- KRead saves some data locally to make reading faster.
- Use the “Clear Cache” option if you need to free space or resolve loading problems.
KRead supports some settings to improve your experience.
- Display Settings: Change font styles, sizes, or theme colors.
- Download Settings: Choose whether chapters download automatically or on-demand.
- Notifications: Enable or disable update alerts.
You can find these options under the “Settings” or “Preferences” menu.
If KRead does not start or shows errors:
- Confirm you have the latest Windows updates installed.
- Restart your computer and try again.
- Download the program again from the releases page.
- Check if your antivirus blocked the program; whitelist it if necessary.
If loading books fails:
- Make sure your internet connection is stable.
- Verify the book source URLs you added are correct and active.
