I study whale movement and behavior in areas undergoing regions. I am a Bioacoustician at Greenland Institute of Natural Resources where I study pan-Arctic marine mammals and soundscapes as part of the Arctic Acoustic Observation Network.
I earned my PhD as a Dr. Nancy Foster Scholar from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. I use a variety of tools — including animal-mounted tags and seafloor hydrophones — to study baleen whale migration and ecology, and the threats they face in a human- and climate-impacted ecosystem. My research spans the sub-Arctic to the Arctic and mainly focuses on bowhead, blue, and humpback whales.
