Food 360 is a digital transparency platform designed to provide consumers with comprehensive insights into the food products they purchase. By utilizing a unique Digital Product Passport (DPP) for every item, the project aims to improve consumer safety and streamline the product exporting process.
- QR Code Integration: Users can scan a QR code on food packaging to be instantly directed to the product's detailed information page.
- Digital Product Passport (DPP): Every product carries a unique digital identity that contains its full lifecycle and safety data.
- Ingredient & Sourcing Transparency: Provides a complete list of ingredients, specifying whether they are locally sourced (e.g., wheat or sugar from India) or imported.
- Health & Safety Alerts: Identifies specific preservatives used and lists potential medical side effects, such as migraines, skin irritation, or asthma symptoms.
- Dietary Status: Clearly indicates the vegan or non-vegan status of the product.
- Manufacturer Information: Displays the manufacturer's name and precise location.
- Usage Guides: Includes a "How to Use" section featuring video demonstrations via YouTube thumbnails.
The current prototype demonstrates these features using Britannia Brown Bread as a case study:
- Product Identification: Britannia Brown Bread, 400g, priced at 40 Rupees.
- Manufacturer: Britannia Industries Limited, Bangalore, India.
- Preservative Analysis:
- E282 (Calcium Propionate): Linked to potential migraines.
- E200 (Sorbic Acid): Linked to potential skin irritation and asthma.
- Sourcing: Wheat, wheat flour, and sugar identified as being derived from India.
- Export Ready: Enhances the appeal and compliance of products in the global market by providing a standardized Digital Product Passport.
- Informed Consumption: Empowers users to make healthier choices based on detailed preservative and ingredient data.
