Summary

Restructured the AI documentation by consolidating the separate "Ask" (chat) and "Build" (agent) guides into a unified, comprehensive guide. This simplifies navigation and provides users with a complete overview of GDevelop's AI capabilities in one place.

Key Changes

  • Merged documentation: Combined docs/gdevelop5/interface/ai/chat/index.md and docs/gdevelop5/interface/ai/agent/index.md into the main docs/gdevelop5/interface/ai/index.md
  • Reorganized content structure:
    • Introduced new sections: "One assistant that can answer and build", "What the AI can build for you", "How the AI works on your request"
    • Added "Choosing how hard the AI thinks (reasoning level)" to explain the three reasoning levels (Medium, High, Maximum)
    • Added "Auto edit" section explaining the toggle for safe chatting vs. direct building
    • Added "Restoring your project to an earlier point" section for cloud and local projects
    • Added "Pausing and starting fresh" section with Stop and New chat guidance
    • Expanded "Good practices" section with specific, actionable recommendations
  • Improved clarity: Rewrote explanations to be more user-friendly and less technical
  • Updated cost information: Clarified that usage is percentage-based and resets weekly, with clearer guidance on obtaining more AI usage
  • Enhanced privacy section: Clarified what data the AI cannot access (personal details, internet browsing)
  • Updated mkdocs.yml: Added redirect entries for the removed chat and agent documentation pages
  • Renamed image: Moved ai-agent-conversation.png to ai-conversation.png and removed ai-chat-conversation.png

Notable Details

  • The consolidated guide now presents the AI as a single unified assistant that can both answer questions and build features, rather than two separate modes
  • Added practical guidance on when to use Auto edit on/off and how to plan before building
  • Included information about automatic restore points for cloud projects and recommendations for local project backups
  • Emphasized good practices like being specific, planning before building, and monitoring AI work in progress

Rework the main Ask AI page to reflect the new single-assistant
architecture that can both answer questions and build in the project:

- Document the single mode (replacing the separate Ask/Build modes)
- Explain the "Auto edit" toggle (on by default; off for safe chatting)
- Describe the 3 reasoning levels (Medium, High for Gold/Pro, Max for Pro)
- Present AI usage as a percentage resetting every Sunday evening
- Explain how the AI breaks work into visible steps and shows a plan
- Document automatic restore points for cloud projects
- Merge useful details from the agent/ and chat/ pages and remove them
- Add redirects from the removed pages to the main page

- Remove references to the previous two-mode setup (forward-looking doc)
- Drop the talking-to-building example (a given with modern AIs)
- Move the "Auto edit" section after the reasoning level section

Request Review

- Lead with GDevelop AI as a creation agent for making games, then note
its GDevelop specialisation vs general-purpose tools
- Drop the "One assistant that can answer and build" heading so the
  content flows directly
- Move the "It's well suited for" examples into a note callout
