Product outcome A user can choose a personal video already stored on their phone and play it on an installed Airo TV receiver over local Wi-Fi, without a PC/NAS, cloud upload, or a full-file copy to the TV. Current baseline - CV-033 is phone-to-Cast-receiver streaming. It provides the tokenized LAN HTTP server, HTTP Range seeking, lifecycle teardown, format rejection, and debug picker. - It is not an Airo Mobile to Airo TV receiver protocol. Do not present the Cast baseline as the finished product. Phase 1: validate the baseline - Execute #889 on at least one real Android TV / Fire TV receiver. - Record first-frame time, seek behavior, storage impact, battery/thermal result, Wi-Fi loss, background kill, and every failure in the evidence document. - Preserve the current direct-play guardrails: LAN-only binding, no full-file reads, tokenized session URL, explicit unsupported-format state, and deterministic teardown. Phase 2: build the Airo receiver foundation - Airo TV receiver discovery and secure pairing, starting with QR or short-code onboarding. - Versioned Airo Mobile <-> Airo TV control contract for load, play, pause, seek, stop, status, and explicit errors. - Receiver capability handshake: container, video/audio codec, HDR, subtitle, and playback limits. - TV playback through the native player with HTTP byte-range direct play and bounded buffering. - Foreground/background lifecycle policy for the phone host, network interruption recovery, and session resume from the last acknowledged position. - Privacy-safe diagnostics for pairing, handoff, playback start, buffering, failure, and teardown. Never record media paths, full URLs, or session tokens. Phase 3: experimental launch - A deliberate end-user entry point, clear recovery messages, receiver-install guidance, and an experimental feature flag. - Device qualification on Android TV, Google TV, and Fire TV, including low-end hardware, weak Wi-Fi, large files, seeking, and long playback. - Rollout dashboard: successful-first-frame rate, time-to-first-frame, playback failure reason, repeated weekly sessions, and receiver pairing completion. Acceptance criteria - A paired Airo TV receiver starts a supported 5 GB local file without a full download or temporary movie copy. - The receiver seeks using HTTP Range requests and holds only a bounded playback buffer. - The system reports an actionable error for incompatible media, offline devices, interrupted Wi-Fi, expired sessions, and phone-host termination. - Stop, disconnect, app teardown, and session expiry reliably close the phone server. - The real-device matrix passes on at least one supported receiver before experimental exposure. Explicitly deferred - AirPlay, Chromecast/DLNA parity work, browser/desktop receivers, multi-TV fan-out, remote relay, general-purpose transcoding/remuxing, cloud libraries, SMB/NAS/provider adapters, and AI media search. - These may reuse the Airo receiver contract later, but they do not block the first product proof.
No due dateResponsive explorer-style live-TV UX across all Airo surfaces (phone/tablet/desktop/web/TV D-pad). Spec: docs/superpowers/specs/2026-07-22-airo-tv-ux-design.md on branch airo-tv-ux. 7 phases, one PR each, dogfood between.
No due date•2/8 issues closedArchitecture delta pass: Rust core expansion, Media Gateway, discovery service, CRDT sync engine, identity abstraction, Media Intelligence Engine (rule-based recommender + Media Graph), relational data model, TV footprint/perf pass, CE/Pro label classification. Scoped as delta on top of existing V2 CV-xxx backlog — see #872.
No due date•2/52 issues closedArchitecture review outcome: redesign Airo TV so Flutter is presentation-only; parsing, indexing, search, caching, networking move to Rust/native. Test corpus: https://iptv-org.github.io/iptv/index.m3u
