my name is charlie and i like to make things. recently i've been doing a lot of work on hardware, software, and mechatronic systems, but i also enjoy working on the occasional industrial design project or interactive web design project. i also often find myself fighting for hardware advocacy or helping teens learn how to code.
my main project is stratosoar, a fully autonomous glider dropped from weather balloons. i developed it completely from scratch; custom 4-layer-circuit-board, c++ autopilot code, 3d printed + foam + cardbon fiber body, etc. backed by the bagel fund.
last spring/summer, i helped organize a 4-month-long hackathon called apex. we had participants from three different countries come to boston to launch their projects on a high-altitude-balloon. participants had spent the prior 4 months building and developing projects to conduct research and experiments at 100,000 feet of altitude.
when i'm not using my hands or making something, you can probably find me in nature, biking, or listening to music.
ps. i had an internship this summer at hack club and created bitstream, a program that enables teenagers to create fpga programs using verilog. i'm also looking for future summer internships... hint hint.
