The organization believes that the ultimate weapon is going to solve the problems of the organization.

  • Excess of enthusiasm in the team.
  • Organization has the view that a new solution that it was found is better than the old one.
  • Big desolation if it doesn’t solve the problems that are expected to solve.
  • Decisions are taken emotionally.
  • Big costs in terms of money and time.
  • Every or almost every critical task relies on the ultimate weapon.
  • If it is a person, he/she is not letting others get the same opportunities.

Causes

  • Lack of skepticism towards the new solution.
  • Emotions take over the people.
  • Bad management.
  • “Hero” culture. If it is a person, the person will solve.

Solution

  • Try to make a better diagnosis. Avoid complexity if it’s not necessary.
  • Evaluate trade-offs.
  • Try to innovate with the tool that is already in the organization.
  • Empower other people so they can highlight themselves.
  • Minimize dependencies.
