how to compile it?

First of all thank you for sharing your work. How can I  compile it? Can I use it to log virtual keyboard presses too? 
"xinput list " gives me 
 Virtual core XTEST keyboard                id=5

Is it possible to record "onboard" keyboard events with your code?
