Does the listener can disable the maximum attempts default value ?

I'm using the spring-retry dependency and I'm calling the method using listener.
I'm just wondering if the listener can disable the maximum attempts default value

And share some code to lead us into right direction.
The RetryTemplate really can be mutated at runtime:

public void setRetryPolicy(RetryPolicy retryPolicy) {

But that would affect all the users of this instance from now on.

The SimpleRetryPolicy can be configured with a dynamic maxAttempt resolution:

The logic for that output is like this:

			boolean running = doOpenInterceptors(retryCallback, context);

			if (!running) {
				throw new TerminatedRetryException("Retry terminated abnormally by interceptor before first attempt");
			}

So, your target service is not going to be called at all if that is false.
That has nothing to do with maxAttempts.

Unfortunately I tried also to put Integer.MAX_VALUE but I also faced the same issue

Yes, because you return that false in your open() implementation.
