Bug: Vault Join error

Problem

I get this promt when i go to gabo.es and i try to join.

After that, It looks like i am joined but i still see the join button and my profile is with no picture (even though I set one)

Then I can go to the account management and i see one device every time I join the site (log out and log in)

and growing ....

Steps to Reproduce

• Go to gabo.es
• Logout (if you already joined)
• Join the site using password flow (you need to cancel passkeys mid way)
• see the error message
• go back home and see the half broken (join button + account picker) idendity area on the top right

Is this trying to log into an existing vault with email, or creating a new one?

I tried the repro steps on brave browser macOS, and I have a partial issue (the profile did not get synced to gabo's server). cc @burdiyan what is our planned fix for that

But I can't get this "Authentication failed" error to happen! At least, not for a new account in an incognito window

@ericvicenti If we have issues with profiles getting synced I'd appreciate a GitHub issue. The profile blob is included into the delegation callback, and it should be sent to the site's server after delegation completes:

This happens when i try to log in to my existing vault. after logging in i still can't comment, as there is this error

@juligasa I just joined Gabo.es with a new account created on dev.hyper.media vault with a password. Seemed to work: https://gabo.es/liveable-cities/:comments/z6MksmE372h6kAqCWBoUAoPmainSJC148JhFrFgp429rQJn3/z6HgmF19kVANoM.

What are exactly the steps that you do, to see if we can reproduce this.

Were you able to reproduce the bug with my credentials @burdiyan ?

I answered in Discord the same day. Not the same error, but something else about authentication was wrong. Sent you a screenshot. I will try again.

I tried again, same error. Same error with my own accounts, and even the ones that are already members of Gabo.es. This is very weird, and it seems like a new bug.

In dailyplanet.io (that follows main) i also can't log in but the error is different

EDIT: The second time I DID log in so that looks like a different error. So the principal not found error must me a branch only bug

I was able to log in on dailyplanet just fine :(
