First, I want to thank you for your excellent work on the IKEA Dirigera Hub integration for Home Assistant. The integration has made managing my IKEA smart devices much more convenient.

I wanted to bring to your attention an issue I’m experiencing with an IKEA remote that has an on/off switch. While I am able to integrate the remote into Home Assistant, unfortunately, only the battery status is visible. I am unable to integrate the switch itself into Home Assistant, and consequently, I can't use the switch in automations to control other devices.

Would it be possible to add support for the remote’s on/off switch functionality, so that it can be utilized within Home Assistant for automation and device control?

This is a known issue, the challenge is that clicking the button on the remote does not generate an event in the hub. However am working on a solution that would mean creating an empty scene and associating a button with it. Let me know if you are ok to collaborate will start work on it then

1. Enable debug
2. Press the button on any shortcut button, notice if it logs any event in the log (mostly it wont)
3. If it does not please create a scene and associate the shortcut button with the scene, with that
   a. provide the json dump
   b. Press button to activate scene and notice events in the log and paste that

What different kind of remotes do you have

I have the TRÅDFRI remote – on/off switch with the model number E1743. Before I can proceed, I need to figure out where to enable debugging in Home Assistant.

Additionally, I'm not sure how to create a scene and link it to the switch when the entities are not available. Currently, the device only shows up as a battery sensor entity in Home Assistant.

Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Yes I see a light controller but as suspected no event was created. Would you now create a scene associated with the shortcut controller. Then enable debugging and press the button couple of time and paste the log for us.

it is not possible to create a scene because there are no entities i could select for the device. this would first require custom integration to make this possible. as already mentioned, there is currently only one value, the battery status, which you can query. homeAssistant does not have access to the buttons and therefore cannot create a scene.

What is the best way to test modified code? Is it to go into the HA deployment, replace files in the ikea-integration (dirigera) and then look at the logs? (possibly do a reload of the integration?).
