Description

@Automatez

Some notes on best practices and guidance for speakers who present at the monthly Pyowa meetings:

Presenter Guidelines
Currently these are just reminders and helpful tips to offer to presenters. A place to start to keep track of the most successful features for presenters at monthly meetings. Long term, if the audience grows these may become more formalized as requirements in order to provide a consistent experience for members who attend.

Speaker Best Practices

  1. Focus on Python! Most presenters will be coming from their respective industry or area of interest so background and context is helpful and often necessary. But the majority of the content should be focused on Python - code, packages, strategy, etc
  2. Timing - presenters will have roughly 30 minutes to present and 10 minutes for questions
  3. Format - multiple formats have been used with success - be creative! Slides, code review, demos and even crowd participation are all welcome.

Steering Committee Best Practices

  1. When possible, the Steering Committee (SC) will review the content in advance to provide any feedback that would help the speaker align with best practices as needed
  2. The SC will introduce the speaker, including some background and topic for the day
  3. The SC will facilitate Q&A, to include monitoring any chat windows from streaming platforms
