how to debug VSCode MCP Server tools?

The document introduced 2 steps to test MCP server, it's great to test if the MCP server works:

• Step 1: Establish the SSE Connection
• Step 2: Send an Initialization Request

but it seems incomplete, it missing the Step 3: Send a MCP Tool Request. Once it gets a response, how should it continue testing MCP tools like 'search_symbol' tool defined in the extension.ts?

I'm using Cline to debug but I think most people use the MCP Inspector: https://modelcontextprotocol.io/docs/tools/debugging

Also, if you check out my PR #473 one of the changes is I switched to Vite because Webpack wasn't producing the correct source maps so when I was debugging the server itself my breakpoints often wouldn't bind. Vite fixed it.
