Display Last Message on top of the recyclerview

How can i arrange the chatlist to show the latest message on top??

I need to show the last message at last of the chat like whatsapp. (i.e) I don't want to scroll down to the screen to see the recent messages at last in the list. While entering the screen I need to show the last message in the bottom with input box.

if I user reverse layou, the messages are get reversed.

How can I show this without reversing the data

The code above is not what you're looking for. Why not just scroll the recyclerview to the bottom upon opening the conversation?
