network install (question)

Did a network install of the plugin and am unsure how it works:

• will it notify changes for each blog? So 4 mails for 4 blogs for a single update?
• is there any plan to add a pure network-settings page? https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-performance-pack/ supports this for example

My concern currently is that I either get to many mails or - if enabled on a single site only - may not get notifications on plugins either not enabled on this blog or enabled for network only (i.e. those hidden from this blogs plugin page).

May give feedback on this in a couple of days and likely will provide suggestions or code if anything bad happens.

Its been such a long time that I worked on it that I cannot say with any certainty how this will perform on a multisite setup.

My other plugin https://github.com/l3rady/wordpress-file-monitor-plus/blob/master/wordpress-file-monitor-plus.php got around the multisite issue by only running on the main site. Maybe something like this can be done to this plugin in the short term so that it only runs once and in one place.

Then we can look at creating a multisite control panel.

The short-term solution has the drawback that the main site may not be used. For me that is dev.DOMAIN which holds no blog but only the network admin and thus has no active cron.

It should be fine either way to just run it on a single site - any will do.

The only concern I can think of is hidden updates due to plugins not being listed/ enabled on this site.

I will set a reminder to look at it again in two weeks. Should get some updates by than.

Even if it runs on a site that is not used I don't think that should be an issue as I believe any visit to any of the blogs should trigger any cron queue. I might be wrong here though so don't take my word for it.

As for hidden updates I don't know how it works in multisite enviroments

WP CRON is often disabled and is triggered otherwise for performance reasons.
It might otherwise seriously add to server load and load times.

By default on a network install only the site cron is triggered. If the plugin is not enabled for this site it will not have the cronjob I think. (it should not have at least).
