cmake complains when trying to build

Hi Kyrre,

I'm on the quest to run MiniScatter. So far, it seems like I've successfully installed geant4 and ROOT, but when I try to build MiniScatter I get the following error message:

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:3 (cmake_minimum_required):
  Compatibility with CMake < 3.5 has been removed from CMake.

  Update the VERSION argument <min> value.  Or, use the <min>...<max> syntax
  to tell CMake that the project requires at least <min> but has been updated
  to work with policies introduced by <max> or earlier.

  Or, add -DCMAKE_POLICY_VERSION_MINIMUM=3.5 to try configuring anyway.

I'm very new to this whole installation process and don't really know how to troubleshoot. Could you please advise?

Quick update:

I tried setting the minimum version to 3.5 to see if that worked, but got two errors when running ´make´:

...... /MiniScatter/src/RootFileWriter.cc:86:6: error: Only UNIX is supported.

...... /MiniScatter/src/RootFileWriter.cc:95:29: error: use of undeclared
      identifier 'get_current_dir_name'
   95 |                 char* cwd = get_current_dir_name()
      |                             ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I also got a warning when trying to rebuild:

Hi Jonas, I'm guessing you're using a Mac? Something changed on that platform since last I tried it, and there are some issues. However I don't have any Mac hardware to test on so its a bit hard for me to chase down - even if it's probably completely trivial.

Sorry about the delayed response, I've had some other things to deal with and I ended up just installing on a cluster running Linux instead of on my local machine.

I the end, I was recommended by a colleague to just install geant4 and root using Mamba, which also meant that I didn't have to source anything. I simply ran mamba install numpy scipy matplotlib geant4 root in my environment, cloned the Miniscatter git repo, and compiled from there according to the install instructions (apart from just running make with no options, multithreading did not work). I did get a bunch of warnings, warning "The C++ standard in this build does not match ROOT configuration (202002L); this might cause unexpected issues", but I tried running a bunch of examples and they finished without errors, so all good!

This seems like the easiest way to run this sort of stuff, because even I could figure it out :)
