I often resizing the selected app window to a known aspect ratio or size, for example:
9:16, such as 720x1280 or 1080x1920
16:9, such as 1280x720 or 1920x1080
1:1 square
maybe “fit to current display” while preserving the selected preset ratio
The use case is recording clean UI demos for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram, etc. Right now I usually have to manually resize the app window before recording, which is imprecise and slows down repeat captures.
Proposed Solution
After selecting a window, show a small “Resize” menu/action near the selected window controls
The user picks a preset such as 9:16 720x1280, 9:16 1080x1920, 16:9 1280x720, or Square
BetterCapture asks for Accessibility permission if needed
If permission is granted and the target window is resizable, the app resizes/repositions the window before recording
If the window cannot be resized, show a small non-blocking error
Basically something like Screen Studio does:
