I read that there is an issue / bug with the EEPROM bootloader with 17.2 on an RPI4B. The details refer to the issue being with rev1.4 specifically. I have checked - and my HA system is running on an RPI4B rev 1.1. Is anyone able to confirm this eeprom issue will NOT affect me ? (Note - I am running off a USB SSD card). |

I've downgraded my rev 1.1 bootloader to version that was reported as problematic (
Thu Mar 19 14:27:25 UTC 2020 (1584628045)) and VL805 firmware to000137adand I'm not able to reproduce the issue there, so it seems it's really affecting only rev 1.4, so you should be safe. Moreover, if the updated OS failed to start from USB boot device, U-Boot should fall back to the previous boot slot, so it shouldn't brick your device. Anyway, it's still strongly recommended to perform the update using the SD card method, it only takes couple of minutes and shouldn't negatively affect your install otherwise.
