Incidentally, http://mosviz.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ was developed as part of JWST DADF (Data Analysis Development Forum) to visualize spectral cubes (and related data) in Glue. Perhaps this package and that one can learn from each other or collaborate.
EDIT: There is also CubeViz at https://github.com/spacetelescope/cube-tools/ but that one still needs some work.
