Just letting you know that at some point, D-Link released a new hw revision and a new firmware:
Hardware revision A3, firmware 3.0.1EUR

Afaik it only has RNDIS and no serial ports at all.

I've been trying to set this as 4g fallback on a OPNsense vm and i've had NO luck.

dlinkcontrol doesn't need serial ports to work with the D-Link DWM-222, but it could stop working if they changed the APIs of the embedded web server.
Also, the lack of the CDC-ECM interface is a concern of the OS, not dlinkcontrol's.

I'll try the new firmware, sooner or later, but since I'm not using the DWM-222 anymore, could me more later than sooner.
Did dlinkcontrol print any error message?

I haven't tried it yet... I'm trying to use this dongle on a opnsense VM so I'm not too keen on installing software there, but what I can do is try it in a new freebsd vm and see how it goes. I'll let you know the results!
