Configure Windows terminal with git bash on Windows

0. Prepared

  • git bash
  • Windows terminal (Windows store)
  • Consolas font
  • wget (for download icon)
    • Go here to download 64bits .exe files
    • Or install with choco install wget
    • move wget.exe to C:\\Windows\\system32\\wget.exe
  • icon for Windows terminal

2. Config "Open Windows terminal here"

2.1 Go to Registry

2.2 Put settings

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Add:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\wt]
<Key>
Default -> Terminal here
<string>
icon -> C:\Users\{YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\win-terminal.ico

Add
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\wt\command]
<Key>
Default -> "C:\\Users\\{YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME}\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\WindowsApps\\wt.exe" "-d ."
  • replace {YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME}
  • save this in a whatever_filename.reg file and run it.
