Hello,
MySQL client applications from 8.0.18+ support the flags --compression-algorithms and --zstd-compression-level to manage connection compression, in addition to the older/deprecated --compress flag, which uses zlib compression. https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.4/en/connection-compression-control.html
This is important in cloud environments where cross-AZ bandwidth is expensive, and compression can improve data bandwidth by 50%.
Other Python libraries support compress. It would be very helpful to see support of these modern options and keep pace with MySQL clients.
Describe the solution you'd like
Please offer support for MySQL's standard compression options.
Describe alternatives you've considered
The alternative is to leave connection functionality incomplete.
