Created AVI files are nearly 3X the size of a matching Hap MOV file

Is it expected that the AVI hap videos will have filesizes many times larger than the same file compressed as Hap with Quicktime?
I have been testing compression in Adobe media encoder, VirtualDub, and Vegas video.
All tests produce AVI files with filesizes many times larger (~10 times the size) of the same video output as Hap MOV's.

These large AVI's do seem to playback very well, with very low cpu usage, so they are useful... just limited data transfer options.

I can't reproduce this. It would be useful to have a series of steps to reproduce it, detailing the Hap flavour and codec settings used.

This seems to be system dependent. I have another fresh system that is compressing these correctly.
Both will play them back as expected.
I was hung up for a bit due to the C++ redist 2005 requirement on the fresh machine.
I will reinstall that redist on the problem machine and report back.

I have reinstalled both the c++ redist and the Hap codec. Tests are still producing files a few times the correct size (as seen by compressing the same files on another working machine).
I have also tested numerous video apps for output. The compression is consistent per machine.

example data:
recompressing a Hap (30 sec 1920x1080 30fps) MOV file (543,079 KB):
-> file 1 - Hap Avi file (544,816 KB)
-> file 2 - Hap Avi file (912,793 KB)

So, in this case, I am seeing only a factor of ~2x the expected size.
Playback Cpu and Gpu usage are ~ the same between these versions and the sample files on RenderHeads site.
Still, it clearly isn't working as expected. I am not sure what else I can do to try and correct the configuration on the problem machine. Hap Mov compresses normally, as do all other codecs as far as I can tell.

Thanks - If you could attach your input and output movies (correct and the over-sized one), that would be helpful, as well as much information as possible about the system producing the incorrect sizes (processor and Windows version in particular).
