Annotation tool indicator only works if pointer size is normal

Because I often demo software live, I have a strong preference for making my mouse pointer size very large. Unfortunately, this obscures the tool indicator.

Here's the expected behavior, as seen when the pointer is "normal" (tiny).

Here's the unintended behavior, as seen when the pointer is "large".

I'm not sure if there's a way to code the tool indicator in a way that scales with the cursor/pointer size.
