Homepage Redesign (Zeplin Implementation) #350

Description

Homepage Redesign (Zeplin Implementation)

Status

Implementation is active. PR #431 is the provisional canonical PR because it contains the newer and broader homepage implementation. PR #406 appears to be an earlier branch and should be closed as superseded after @Om7035 confirms that any useful work has been carried forward.

Purpose

Create a responsive public homepage that explains Quote.Vote’s purpose, quote-level voting model, discussion mechanics, nonprofit orientation, open-source status, and paths to participate.

Implemented or substantially represented in #431

  • New landing-page structure and visual treatment
  • Hero and platform-explanation content
  • Community and participation sections
  • Public footer structure
  • Responsive implementation work

Required corrections before merge

  • Restore a functional email/invite subscription handler with validation and feedback.
  • Replace or remove internal footer links whose destination routes do not exist.
  • Render donation statistics again or remove the unused blocking OpenCollective fetch.
  • Reconcile the branch with current main and reduce unrelated diff churn.
  • Confirm all primary and secondary CTAs reach valid destinations.
  • Verify invite-request behavior.
  • Verify donation behavior.
  • Compare desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts against Zeplin.
  • Run accessibility checks.
  • Run Lighthouse or equivalent performance checks.
  • Confirm authenticated pages have no visual regression.

Acceptance criteria

  • The homepage communicates what Quote.Vote is, how quote-level voting works, who the platform serves, and how visitors can participate.
  • Desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts substantially match the approved design.
  • Every visible control performs a real action or is clearly presented as non-interactive content.
  • Navigation links resolve successfully.
  • Invite and donation paths function.
  • Accessibility and performance remain acceptable.
  • The final diff is reviewable and compatible with current main.

Maintainer decision

After @Om7035 confirms carry-forward status, maintainers can formally designate #431 and close #406 as superseded. Until then, both remain visible to avoid discarding contributor work without confirmation.
