Swapping to "legacy vortex UI" sometimes crashes vortex

To Reproduce

1. Open fresh install of vortex with no managed games
2. click "use legacy vortex UI"

Expected behavior
I expected it to change to the legacy ui.

Actual Behaviour
Instant crash to desktop, no application in task manager etc. no settings saved
