Does it make sense to do some sort of type validation for gain? It probably won't make sense since different channels (RX/TX) and devices (Brf1/2) have different ranges.

Creating issue to elicit comments/feedback from others.

Yeah agree with that. Dont think its worth spending time validating each possible combination when the user needs to have correct understanding of the capabilities of their device anyway.
