My personal taste/preference: the existing one - for me: easier to read if in 1 row. |

I briefly tested your branch. I couldn't find any errors. My opinion: Advantages: Disadvantage: For me, you can change it. |

I also find a 1 row list more organized, similar to how it is in Garmin BaseCamp, where you can configure the order yourself |

I also think one row is better. The main reason is that a wrong click can happen only in one dimension (two possible missclicks, left/right), while in the suggested change wrong clicks can happen in two dimensions (up to 4 possible missclicks). |

I prefer the oneliner too, in the compact view I would like to be able to re-arrange them, having my favorites in the top row. |

Especially the screen options for tracks get more and more determining the width of the bubble dialog. I experimented a bit making them a bit more compact.
Let me show you:
The 4 tool buttons of the top row are common to all GIS items. Below that the item specific tool buttons are grouped. The content is placed right of the tool buttons.
This does not necessarily lead to a bubble dialog with less width. However this only happens to those items with a rather small bubble anyways.
The question is: Better or just different?
