Can `seqdata/readers.py`be deprecated?

Is seqdata/readers.py and older version of what is currently contained in the seqdata/readers directory and can it be removed?

I think you're referring to seqdata/_io/readers.py, which seems to overlap entirely with the seqdata/_io/readers module. I need to look at the git history to see why there are both, but it's definitely an accident as there should not be. I'm not even sure which one gets imported with the current structure 😱

I think that the classes in seqdata/_io/readers/ are the ones currently being used based on some testing (e.g. print statements in the files and available attributes).
