Very high CPU usage

Hi there, the python3 process "/usr/share/boxflat/entrypoint.py --autostart" has a permanent CPU usage of 35% on a single core

Even after startup and with boxflat hidden in background, this process eats up 35% CPU permanently.

I'm on Arch Linux (BTW), with Kernel 6.14.9 (64-bit), KDE Plasma 6.3.5 Wayland, Boxflat and the universal-pidff from AUR

It's by far the most taxing application I have installed on my system right now.

BTW, you can uninstall universal-pidff-git. The driver is now included directly in kernel :)

The preferred distribution method is flatpak so could you test if the same happens if you get if from the Discover store? I'm checking this now and htop tells me idle boxflat takes 0.0. I'll test with some devices later.

With a wheelbase + pedals + handbrake + simagic shifter I get up to 6% of one core on 5800X3D and 7840U.

Sorry, I can't test the flatpack. I don't want to install a whole sandbox environment I don't need just for one single application.

htop tells me 38% CPU and 611 MB of RAM right now. That's crazy.

I use a Moza R9 with SRP Pedals, HGP Shifter, Multi Function Stalks & Truck Wheel.

I also have 2 separate devices connected, a simple parking brake, that's just one single button and a truck shifter knob with 3 buttons.

But even your 6% are crazy for a "simple" background process on a 5800X3D. Not even CPU intensive applications like Steam, Chrome or Firefox use this much on my system. They're in the 0.5 - 1.0% range on my system.

Boxflat constantly talks to all the devices to poll their settings. I think I could at least add a toggle for active device polling but when it comes to memory usage, I can't do much. I certainly try to make a test where I'll leave my computer running for a few days.

Any real improvement would only come with Boxflat 2.0 but IDK when I could finish the rewrite

There is something off though. Trying to find what it is. When i launch boxflat it sits at a nice 0.2/0.3%. usually after a gaming session i notice that its above 6% (and thus causing my cpu fans to spin at idle). I am seeing if this also happens during just idling the pc. Installed through flatpak, on fedora kde. Cpu is a Ryzen 5700x
