Describe what would you like to see added/changed
Hi!
My new SRP2 pedals just got in. Unfortunately the clutch (sold separately) was not working at all. I did an RMA – which somehow the vendor just accepted – only for it to turn out that all along a firmware upgrade was needed for the clutch to work.
Also not to make excuses for myself but all online troubleshooting I could find was for the SRP-1 pedals which are apparently analog, while SRP2 communicate over I2C. Two of three pedals were working so I incorrectly assumed everything was fine on the firmware/driver side. In fact all three pedal modules have the same S/N and manufacturing date so why a firmware upgrade is needed at all is unclear.
I understand boxflat doesn't perform the firmware upgrade, but I do think a "hey you might want to upgrade your firmware in Pit House if something isn't working" message would be very welcome if an old firmware is detected. At least for SRP-2 since apparently they are getting shipped in a non P&P state.
Could you help out in any way?
I'm comfortable developing with python so if you agree this is a welcome feature, just point me in a direction and I can make a PR.
