[V3.4.82EN] Picture app: Short touch not switching image with Auto Display OFF

Hello GeekMagicClock,

I have recently picked up your awesome little device (SmallTV Pro) and enjoyed it very much. Updating the firmware also worked fine.

So, I have updated my recieved device from V3.3.76EN to V3.4.82EN. After that I noticed the supposed issue in the Picture app.

Situation:

• Have multiple images (JPG and GIF) uploaded in the Picture app section in the web interface.
• Auto Display mode is OFF.
• Choose a picture to display with clicking the Set button.
• Open the Picture app on the device.
• Single image gets displayed fine (JPG static or GIF looping endlessly).
• Short touch on device top does nothing/hangs up GIF.

Bug:

• Inside the Picture app with Auto Display OFF, doing a short touch on the device top does not switch from the selected image to the next image. It stays at the current image and if it is a GIF, it will hang up on the display.
• The image also is stuck (and hangs up) when I use the Quick Navigation buttons (Left / Right) in the System settings in the web interface.
• Exiting and re-entering the Picture app (via long touch or in the web interface) fixes the display state: It displays the selected image again normally, and a GIF plays normal in loop again.
• Does not affect Auto Display ON (then it will switch the image displayed on short touch/with the web interface navigation).

Extra bug:

• In the web interface, clicking the Select button on the same GIF that is already selected will hang it up on the device screen now.
• Fixed with selecting another image or exiting and re-entering the Picture app.

Expected:

• Auto Display OFF: On short tap on device top, the image should switch to the next image (JPG or GIF) and display/loop it endlessly until I short tap again.
• Web interface - clicking Set button on already selected image/GIF: Correctly reload the image on display (and not hang it up) or easier, discard the input (do nothing, no switching on device).

Sadly I cannot remember if switching the image with short tap while Auto Display is OFF, worked on the old firmware V3.3.76EN. Sorry!

I hope my report helps you, and if you already fixed this issue in an upcoming firmware update, I will patiently wait for it.

Customer-visible result:

Auto Display OFF: short touch and web quick navigation now switch images correctly.
Selecting the same GIF again from web UI no longer causes stuck frame/hang.
Exiting/re-entering app is no longer required as workaround.
Auto Display ON behavior unchanged.
Recommended verification (customer side)

Upload multiple JPG/GIF, set Auto Display OFF, select one GIF, enter Picture app.
Short touch device top repeatedly: should move through images without freeze.
Use web Left/Right quick navigation: should switch without freeze.
Click Select on the currently selected same GIF: should keep playing normally.
Repeat with Auto Display ON to confirm no regression.

Thank you for the updated firmware V3.4.87EN! I have now applied it to my device and tested all the steps that you mentioned.
Sorry for the late reply though, I have forgot a bit about this and got busy.

I have found no regressions while doing all the steps now and everything worked as you described, both with Auto Display OFF and ON.

But I have found a new bug:

My observation:

• When using Picture App as Auto Start App:
  • Upon reboot, the device does not remember anymore which image I have selected (this worked before)
  • It seemingly chooses a random image to display (it always changed for me after selecting a different image in the web UI and rebooting the device again for testing)
• Web UI:
  • Upon reboot, the selected image will always be the first image from the gallery list (not my chosen image)
  • Pressing F5 in the web UI after selecting an image, it also forgets it (displays first image from the gallery list again)
  • From this point, using the web UI normally to change pictures works as expected (no issue with this)

I also deleted all images and then did a factory reset to check if the bug was related to my old user data, but it was not. My observed issues happened again as stated.
