ESP32-C5 Board

Good morning,

Since Espressif has (finally) send ESP32-C5 for mass production. Is there any plans to support this board ?
It would allow 5GhZ WiFi for higher bandwith and lower latency !

I am receiving 2 Dev. boards soon so I can do some testing :)

It is a single-core CPU, isn't it? In my experience, it's never a good choice for audio streaming applications.

You are correct: 32-bit single core CPU @ 240 MHz.

After some tweaks, I have managed to build the project and flash-it.

So from your own experience, single Core will not be able to handle the load ?
For a wireless Dolby Home Cinema setup, I am planning to transmit a 8 channel signal to TAS5805M DAC and each will select the channel to play,more details here

I've been running esp32 at 80MHz just to see how it goes and it was able to stream 2ch audio without any issues. The test didn't last too long so Kot sure about long term stability, but from this test I'd say it should be possible to do 2ch audio streaming on a single core

@Glider95 looks interesting. I'm not saying it is not possible with single-core CPU, I'm only saying you might spend more trying to make it run stable, given the fact that audio decoding can be a heave enough task. I'm not sure about C5 architecture, it might hire hidden micro-core for wireless transmission, so I might me wrong here. In fact, I encourage you to prove me wrong :)

My fork is actually adds a web-installer and few SDKCONFIGs for the board I support, in terms of snapclient code, I didn't change anything, so I'm pretty sure it supports PSRAM upstream as well. It is in my too list to sync the code from the master, as I only intend to support web-installer and my board's configs at the moment.

I'm curious, how are you planning to send 8-ch audio to the TAS5805M DAC? It is a stereo DAC, isn't it? I don't think any of the ESP32 chips support multi-line I2S, or am I wrong?

@anabolyc : From what I could read from the data sheet, it includes:
32-bit RISC-V single-core processor and a low-power RISC-V coprocessor, so maybe the coprocessor can be used for the wireless part ?

Oh noted on the PSRAM, I seemed to progress better with your implementation but I might have got lost in the iterations.

For the signal, I was thinking to use I2S TDM:

TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) mode supports up to 16 slots. These slots can be enabled by [i2s_tdm_slot_config_t::slot_mask](https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-idf/en/stable/esp32c5/api-reference/peripherals/i2s.html#_CPPv4N21i2s_tdm_slot_config_t9slot_maskE).

Any data bit-width is supported no matter how many slots are enabled, which means there can be up to 32 bit-width * 16 slots = 512 bit data in one frame.

Hey everyone, with the last comment being from September: how is the C5 "situation" by now? :) My 2.4GHz Wifi is completely flooded by tons of routers and access points by my neighbours, so I'm kind of hoping that 5GHz might be the solution...
