Linux version via Steam doesn't launch.

I cannot launch CWA Remastered via Steam on native Linux, but I can launch it with Proton.
I can launch the game if I run the binary directly.
Steam briefly says "Updating product key" before attempting to launch the game.
If I run it through Proton, then turn off Proton the game launches, but if I verify the integrity of the files, it no longer launches.
Pointing to the wrong location? Installscript issue? Key issue?
