I'd like a new connector for Odoo, the same way it already exists for SAP and Salesforce for instance.

As a Data Manager working with Odoo i can second this idea. Odoo have its own ORM API, https://odoo-master.readthedocs.io/en/master/reference/orm.html maybe a ORM o ORM api transfer to OpenMetadata...

Hi @PubChimps ! I’m working on this for the WeMakeDevs hackathon.

@alanvalen Thanks for linking the ORM docs! Since OpenMetadata sits outside of Odoo, I won't be building an internal module. Instead, my plan is to build a standard Python ingestion connector that acts as an external client using Odoo’s XML-RPC/JSON-RPC API.

To make sure this matches the quality of the Salesforce and SAP connectors, the architectural approach will be:

Schema: Add the odooConnection.json spec for credentials and database routing.
Metadata Extraction: Query Odoo's ir.model registry to extract active models (tables) and ir.model.fields to extract columns, native data types, and human-readable descriptions.
Relationships: Intelligently map Odoo's relational fields (Many2one, One2many) so foreign keys and lineage make sense in the OpenMetadata UI.

I have my local environment fully set up and am currently mapping out the ingestion framework discovery. I’ll open a PR so we can track the progress.
