Bug description

I can click on an applet to open something, it opens and works fine. I then close it. If I try to open another applet it will not open and/or it crashes. I noticed it when I opened the Update Manager to see what the updates were, closed it, finished what I was doing and then was going to install the updates. When I clicked on the applet, nothing happened. If I right clicked it the menu showed up in the upper left corner of the screen (a known issue). I tried opening HPLIP and it would not open. The bluetooth, printer, volume, battery level, and WiFi applets all seem to work. If I open the Update Manager from the Menu, it works fine. If I restart the computer, the applets work once and then stop working.

Steps to reproduce

Open an applet then close it. After that some of the applets will not work.

Expected behavior

Applets should open each time they are clicked on.

Additional information

I don't think this is related, but I don't want to open another ticket for it (unless someone who knows more than me says I should) but randomly, my screen brightness suddenly drops, even if I'm actively using the computer (not dimming due to inactivity). I can turn it back up, but don't get what's happening.
