Dark mode illustrations could use some work

All of the illustration files have white feathering that doesn’t mesh well with the new background color. Additionally some illustrations have transparent pixels in inappropriate places which significantly changes the perception of the image in dark mode. Dark mode should probably be using similar but different image files.

Yes, this is a known problem, but thank you for opening an issue, it's good to have one. The current version of the dark mode is the first one, and it was meant as a minimum viable product... We're totally open to community contributions in this space.
