VSCode support

I really love this project. I am a happy emacs user, but frankly, live-py is the main reason why I keep going back to emacs instead of just using VSCode.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been hearing good things about VSCode, but I've never used it. Years ago, I used Visual Studio for C# and other languages.
Have you investigated what their plug-in system is like?

VSCode has a well defined javascript API for extensions, here there is the official guide which includes some examples:

Have you tried the PyCharm plugin? It has all the features of the Emacs version plus matplotlib support and turtle support.

If you or anyone else is interested in contributing support for VS Code, there's a description of the process in the contributing file. It mostly involves launching a Python subprocess to call the tracer code, and then displaying the results in a side-by-side window.

Thank you for the invitation to contribute! I don't think I have the combination of time/skills required to implement the plugin right away. In the meantime, I will take the suggestion of using PyCharm to see how it goes and I will revisit the VSCode option in a couple of months.

Visual Studio Code gained a lot of traction in the last years and is becoming very good. According to the Stack Overflow Developer Survey more than 75% of developers use VS Code.

I had a look at the mentioned Live Coder plugin, but it doesn't support Python Turtle as far as I know.

It looks pretty nice, and it seems like a totally independent project. Their VS Code extension might be a good source of inspiration, and we could replace their server with ours.
